Vision and Precision post-script

A follow up to our original report revealing the new features of Madden 2006 - this time we discuss some of the details we omitted from our original article posted up on Wednesday.

Added to the Precision passing in Madden 2006 is the option to throw a high bullet pass. Users will also have the ability to under throw a bomb. The high bullet pass is useful for throwing over the middle above Linebackers heads. This also triggers a new animation for the receivers in which the receiver jumps and stretches out to catch the pass. You can see an example of this in a screenshot posted at IGN.

In the past Madden receivers have always tried to catch the pass in their chest. That is no longer the case as you will see them stretch out and jump for balls. The receivers can also get aggressive when catching a pass. This is where an under thrown bomb comes in handy. Think of the plays where Randy Moss goes up for an under thrown deep ball. With precision passing this kind of spectacular reception is entirely possible and it’s a thing of beauty when it happens.

The QB control scheme has been changed in both NCAA and Madden. The "X" button (PS2 controls) is now the speed burst for your QB. This takes away the need to toggle your passing icons off and on while trying to scramble. What happened to the "X" receiver? He’s been moved to the "Triangle" button. It’s the same for Xbox players just insert the corresponding buttons for that particular controller.

Keep checking back here for continual updates on Madden and NCAA 2006.
