Since I was already in Orlando a few weeks back and had quite a bit of time with NCAA 08 I can only reiterate on what has already been said. There are a lot of positives about this game.
The controls are spot on and this is the first time I have felt that the controls on Next Gen are up to par. Taking control of a DB or WR are now a joy. I can't say much more than that you will love the controls, I'm sure of it!I'm not much on the Superstar/Campus Legend type stuff but I have to say that not having the rosters right now I am enjoying this mode quite a bit and here is why - The Supersim makes it that much better. With the new SuperSim you can sim until your Legend is back on the field. If your a QB then you will only be on the field when the Offense is out there and the same with any other position. You can use SuperSim this way or you can go play by play and read what happens or choose to watch the next play. This will also be great for Dynasty games that don't matter much or that are blowouts.60FPS - makes a difference! Trust meDB Play - Made a mistake and you'll pay for it. Mistakes are interceptions plane and simple. Especially on Heisman which i! s what we were playing most of the time.Hit Stick 2.0 - Hit high or hit low. If your a Corner coming up to put a hit on a big RB you may want to choose to hit low and take his legs out. The Hit stick is now direction sensitive. If you hit up on it you are going to try for a big hit up high. Flicking down will cause your defensive player to go low and take out the legs.Fumbles - If your in traffic you'll want to avoid the jukes and the highlight stick - doing these in traffic is just going to frustrate you as you are highly likely to cough up the rock. Instead get used to using RB to cover up the ball.
My ESPY experience I am going to cover in my next post. For now I give you the day on Thursday at the LA studio. It was a day of hands on time with the game and EA brought in some NFL players to join in the fun. Brad Smith from the Jets - was Mizzou's QB, Ryan Kalil from the Panthers and the Center at USC (2 national titles), and Kirk Morrison MLB from the Raiders. I spent a lot of the day playing Brad Smith in NCAA. We got along really well and it was a good time getting to talk to him about Life in the NFL and college football. Here are a few pictures.
