Extra Fluff !
With another posting in our "Year of Presentation" feature, Kev discusses some of the peripheral areas in which the presentation of the game could be enhanced.

I would first like to start off that things like Chain gangs, Referees, penalties, sideline activity, and Replay Challenges all need to be re-done or added.
Chain gangs don’t change the game, but they do bring a certain flavor to a situation. In current situations text tells us if we have a first down or not. That’s not very exciting at all, and it needs to be changed. It is fun going back and forth with your friends shouting “That was a definitely a first down!” And then both of you wait in anticipation for the chain gang to get out there and tell you if your drive has continued or stalled. Again, not a very big addition but it is neat to see the chain gang be back.
Referees need to be brought into the game also; it adds a TV presentation element into the videogame. Again, not a big addition like the “Chain gang” but it adds much needed realism into the video game.
Penalties are a huge issue in this game. Aside from offsides and pass interference and the occasional holding, everyone is playing nice and does nothing wrong. I don’t think I have ever even had a facemask call in the next gen madden. There are plenty of times when a penalty is called on my team, and I replay in. I honestly get pretty mad when I see my players did absolutely nothing wrong. There is probably nothing worse than losing 15 yards for having your players not commit a penalty.
Everyone on the sideline looks overweight and apparently they all just saw a good zombie movie. They just stand there and do absolutely nothing. Although they do clap in unisine if something good happens, which is actually quite scary. Also you have plenty of players were duplicate jerseys of someone who is actually on the field. The sideline needs to be more active with assistant coaches the the players actually looking interested in the game.
Finally, the replay challenge needs to be overhauled. I am sure all of us can go into extensive detail on how the current system screwed us over. I have had three feet in, yet apparently that still doesn’t matter. This whole system needs to get thrown out and replaced.
