Gameplay The new addition to gameplay in 06 is the impact players. EA has taken 3 players from each team and given them impact ability meaning they can break open the game at any given time. The impact RB’s are a little to good at times though and having a impact QB or Defensive lineman is sometimes not much of an advantage. The game play is much smoother than last year and the slowdown on the Xbox is gone. I still see a few drops that shouldn’t be and online people aren’t rewarded for playing a short passing game as much as throwing the ball deep. The gameplay is still great though so don’t dwell to much on the problems I have with the gameplay. There are many more positives than negatives.

Graphics An upgrade to the player models is obvious as they now look much more like college players compared to Madden. The Xbox has better graphics but the grass is still more realistic looking on the PS2.

Longevity Adding to the longevity is Race to the Heisman mode and in season recruiting in Dynasty mode. It just keeps getting better.

Presentation The new pre-game is nice with the teams mascot helmet being put on. It’s a nice touch. Otherwise things look to be about the same.

Sound Everything sounds great as it did last year. With the addition of THX certified it’s definitely an upgrade.

Overall It’s the best version yet. Online people use the run, run, throw deep method so I would like to see some things done to improve the short passing game to make online play have more variety. The Dynasty mode is just a ton of fun to play and it just keeps getting better. If you are a football fan and maybe even a person who only plays Madden, I would suggest picking this one up and giving it a go. The atmosphere of the game just makes it a lot of fun to play.
