FIFA 09 is the best version of FIFA ever released. EA sorted out the gameplay a few years back and have built on it with each successive release since then. There are plenty of bells and whistles, from players performing skill moves to team specific tactics which can be customised in tons of different ways. There are some issues - manager mode is still a bit lightweight and the online experience can sometimes be frustrating, but FIFA 09 is the best soccer simulation ever released.

Gameplay Gameplay is superior to FIFA 08 and EA has added some nice touches - the best just got better. However, online can be a frustrating experience at times but is overall a compulsive and satisfying experience.

Graphics The graphics are solid and the stadiums are beautifully recreated. However, while some of the superstars look impressive not enough of the players look like their real-life counterpart.

Longevity There are plenty of options that will keep you playing FIFA 09 for a long time - basic online head to head games or online leagues, the offline manager and Be A Pro modes - not forgetting the online 10v10 stuff. EA doesn't want you to let this disc collect dust...

Presentation Presentation is the normal broadcast style with a few nice new cut scenes. Players are much more animated, pointing to positions where they want the ball passed to them. Replays can be saved and uploaded to the web, with a basic editor allowing different camera angles and slow-mo options.

Sound The live football experience is captured beautifully with team specific songs sung by the crowd for the home team. However, the commentary is sometimes a bit inaccurate - but still an improvement on previous years.
