If the controller that is being used is not working with one of the EA products, this could be due to a few reasons. The main reason the controller may not be working is that it is not an official Sony Playstation Dual Shock 2 controller. If a third party controller is being used, such as the controllers that are made by Mad Catz, Interact and Nuby, the game may not be compatible with those controllers. Only use officially licensed Sony Playstation 2 items with the system.
Although it is possible that some games that Electronic Arts releases will work with Playstation Dual Shock Controllers for the Playstation 1, Dual Shock controllers are not directly supported for any of our Playstation 2 titles due to the lack of pressure sensitivity with the digital buttons. The only controllers that we support with EA games are the Sony Playstation 2 Dual Shock 2 controllers. Due to this change with the controller layout and functionality, Electronic Arts can not guarantee that the use of Playstation 1 controllers will work with any of our Playstation 2 titles.
If you are using a Dual Shock 2 controller you will want to check the analog light on your controller, this should be lit and on. Also try resetting your controller connection.
To do this:
1. Pause the game. 2. Unplug your controller from the system. 3. Plug your controller back in making sure that the analog sticks are in there center position. 4. Unpause the game and test the controls
