If the game save information has been corrupted for your particular console, the only way to remedy this would be to delete the affected game save file. Unfortunately, it is not possible to restore game save information to a working state once it has been corrupted due to the file being altered in such a way that it is impossible to restore. The best way to prevent this from happening to your game saves would be to wait about five to ten seconds after the game has been properly saved in order to ensure that no save information is damaged or otherwise disrupted during the save process.

In order to delete the game save information off the Playstation 2 Memory Card, follow these steps.

1. Power on the Playstation 2 without a game disc inside to display the Playstation 2 front end.
2. Select Browser.
3. Select the memory card that you are using by highlighting it and pressing the X button.
4. Find and delete any save file with a name matching the game you are having trouble with by highlighting the game file and pressing the X button.
5. Once all of the save files have been removed, restart the console with the game disc inside.
6. Try playing the game.

This should allow for the file to delete the game save information without incident.
