| Filed : 09/14 18:07 (Rob B) This is a few tips I've found to work for defense. I constantly struggle with defense so I've really been focusing on that side of the ball. First off, a good quarterback doesn't miss a chance to hit you deep. Generally cover deep with both safeties in zone and everyone else playing man. Zone coverage works but the computer can beat you from time to time. I suggest Cover 3. It covers deep and the flats. Control the safety that's not in deep zone and look for anyone running free. Only use Quarter Defense when it's 3rd and long and you have at least four good cornerbacks. I've found that I can play stifling D if I have four good DBs with 4-3. Have one safety playing deep and everyone else man. If they're a good secondary you can play bump n' run. Control the safety in deep zone and run with anyone going deep. Man coverage can only get beat if the offense uses crosses, slants, or curls. Hopefully your line can cause the offense trouble to slow them down. !
The last two things, switch up zone to man often and also switch your sets. This gives the offense a little something different to look at. Stopping the run can be difficult. If you play run use cover one and control the safety. Bring eight men in the box and run to the ball. Use square button then R2 if the tight end is on the left side at any time. This shifts the defense to the strong side. If the offense overloads in any direction move your D-line in that direction. Lastly, don't use blitzes without safety help if you don't know what you're doing. The quarterback will burn you and the only thing that will stop him is if he doesn't have good accuracy. You will get to him but he will beat you from time to time. This is a quick overview of a few things I found to help out. Part 2 to come soon. Disclaimer: I played with the Jaguars against the Falcons in 15 minute quarters and held them to 14 points. PS., the Redskins have a very good D.
