Chicago Bears

YOUR OVERALL RATING FOR THE Chicago Bears

Let's be honest here, this team is tough to win with no matter how you look at it. If you are planning on doing a franchise, you should go with Cedric Benson in the first year, hoping to get him improved a good amount and ready to become a quality starting back. If you plan on playing online, I'd go with Thomas Jones and pound the ball up the gut often and effectively. Whoever you use, run often and run to the left, the right side of the line is weak. The defense ran by this team should be 4-3, as their backup DT is much more reliable than their backup MLB, plus I'd say you need to get 4 guys pressuring the opponent's QB since the Bears' DBs are fast enough to lock up a receiver for a good amount of time. Brian Urlacher is fast enough to cover most WRs, TEs and HBs, but make sure none of the other linebackers are assigned for coverage of anyone half way speedy. The Bears' help over the top on receiver is decent also, so make sure you drop those safties back in deep coverage when you can. Overall, I'd say you should be good if you stick to the run, and punt it whenever possible, play the ball control game.
To be even more honest than above, beating the Bears shouldn't be too difficult. When running the ball against the bears, run the ball straight at Brian Urlacher, not around him. His speed is too good to get around, but it is possible to block him to get around him. With Rex Grossman injured on the rosters, Jeff Blake or Kyle Orton will be getting the starting nod, so one-on one the receivers (maybe doubling up Mushan Muhammed) and blitz the quarterback like he commited a crime and you are the Iraqi army (just don't kill him, put a good hit on him wink.gif). The running game should be much more effective than the pass against the Bears, but it isn't like passing is impossible. The cornerbacks are mediocre and the safties are good at best, so be smart, and don't turn the ball over on your own side of the field, as this team shouldn't be able to drive down the field barring a lucky play.
Strengths:
-Two young, above average running backs
-Speedy, young Cornerbacks
-Young, above average safties
-Quality Punter
-Fast Wide Receiver Core
-Strong left side of offensive line

Weaknesses:
-QB issues. Bad ones.
-Not even an average Right Guard.
-Lack of depth at all offensive positions
-Terrible depth on the O-Line

C Olin Kruetz: This guy is the best center in football, hands down. Seven years of experience, good strength and knowledge, and a great mix of runblock and passblock skills make this guy a great all-around player. Also, may I mention that he is the fastest center in the game, so it would be a good idea to have him pull off the line occationally.

LB Brian Urlacher: Urlacher is a playmaker. The guy has speed unheard of for a white man in general, especially one plaing at the middle linebacker position, not to mention decent strength, good hands and superb tackling skills. Also, his great runblocking ability makes him a great special teams man for those who didn't notice.

SS: Mike Brown: Although Mike isn't all that fast, he has good hands and awareness, making him a pretty good coverage saftey. His strength and tackling aren't all that high, so it is almost necessary to keep him in coverage at all times.

WR: Mushin Muhammad: Mushin is the complete package. He has good speed, better awareness, and amazing hands. This guy can also jump well, so if you have him in single coverage, you should be able to get him the ball even from Kyle Orton.

This playbook I know, as it is the one I use online. The thing I like about the playbook others might not like, and that is that it is simple. There are simple run plays and simple pass plays, not a lot of fancy plays. The playbook consists of the following formations:
-Goalline
-I Form, 3 WR
-I Form, Big
-I Form, Normal
-I Form, Twin WR
-Shotgun, 2 RB - 3WR
-Shotgun, 4 WR
-Shotgunm, Normal
-Singleback, 4 WR Spread
-Singleback, Big
-Singleback, Empty 5 WR
-Singleback, Normal Slot
-Singleback, Trey Open
-Singleback, Trips Bunch
-Singleback, Twin TE
-Split Backs, 3 WR
-Split Backs, Normal
-Strong I, 3 WR
-Strong I, Jumbo
-Strong I, Normal
-Weak I, Normal
-Weak I, Twin WR
