First of all...YOU GOT LT!!! Run the ball, and run it effectively. LT is simply the best HB in the NFL and in Madden when used right. Strong effective and young O-Line in front of him so use them. Try to get LT atleast 1500-1700 yards a year along with about 15 td's. The other part of the offense, the passing game, you have one of the Top 10 QB's in the league in my opinion. Drew Brees has 88 throwing strength, which is somewhat decent. Then his amazing 94 throwing accuracy and 88 awareness gives him a pretty big cone and is easy to find the open reciever with him. The people that he's throwing to are decent, solid, but not GREAT recievers. The veteran Keenan McCardell has solid hands and is a 87 overall. Dependable WR for Brees. Use alot of 3 WR sets when you throw. Eric Parker can be great in the slot. Reche Caldwell fits in good for Brees as well. Then on every play on offense, make sure you have your TE Antonio Gates. Again, probably the best young TE in the game right now. Fast for a TE with dependable hands will get you positive yards all the time. In season try to get him between 70-90 receptions and 10-15 td's a year at least. Make sure you also pass it out to LT in the flats and on screens. Very effective pass catching running back. On defense, since you don't have the best number 2 DT, I'd run a 3-4 defense. Very large depth at the LB in all 3 departments. Very young defense and will be deadly after they progress. At SS use Terrence Kiel...he progresses very well and can be useful in many ways. Great special teams unit, young kicker Nate Kaeding has a strong leg so don't be afraid to kick from 50+ yards. Mike Scifers at punter also has a strong leg, but use Kaeding on kickoffs. Make your return man the rookie Darren Sproles, his great speed, agility, and acceleration makes him deadly in the return game. When playing...try to have a 55-60% run to a 40-45% pass ratio.
When you're facing the Chargers offense, send alot of outside blitzes. Their offensive tackles are the downside of the offensive line. Don't commit too much vs. the pass since they are a more run heavy team until they are down by multiple touchdowns. Against their defense try to run it up the gut since, your middle 3 offensive lineman can control and overpower their DT's. Pass more to the left when passing to take advantage of their low rated FS at only a 78 rating obviously isn't aware of what's going on. Use some pass plays that have trips WR to the left and really confuse that side of the D.
Strengths- Simply the best HB in the league in LT. Probably the best TE in Antonio Gates...strong, big, solid hands, and fast for a TE. Strong, young O-line. They progress quite well. Fast and young defense which can kill in a few years after they learn and progress. Solid kicker and punter for being quite young still.
Weaknesses- Inexperience and unaware O-line...in a couple years they will be good but not that great for now. No depth at HB if LT goes down, they are fast but that's about it. They need a better #1 WR, McCardell is good, but not #1 WR material. But is the only WR that you can really depend on at this point. FS postion is weak with Wilson back there. 78 Overall rating isn't good enough to start. The CB position does need some work, they need a better #2 CB around an 85 OVR rating. An 87 and 2 80's don't cut it in my opinion.
- LaDainian Tomlinson, obviously...and pretty self expanitory - TE Antonio Gates, just read what was said above^^^ - FB Lorenzon Neal. This guy is probably in the Top 5 when it comes to lead blocking and pass blocking. - QB Drew Brees. NFL Comeback player of the year last year if I remember right. And his pass strength and accuracy give him a big cone of vision. - Rookie Shawn Merriman at OLB is a very good thing for this defense. He progresses well. Just make sure he gets atleast 75-90 tackles in his first year. - Great depth at LB, you always have somebody to come in and succeed when a starter is either tired or injured.
